Ukraine plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions

August 6, 2021

In a framework of the obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement, Ukraine plans to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions to the 35% of the 1990 amount by 2030. The target was officially set by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 30 July 2021.
The Paris Agreement adopted in 2015 aims at coordinating international efforts in fighting climate change. The EU and Ukraine ratified the agreement in 2016. Climate action is among the Eastern Partnership priorities past 2020. The EU will help partner countries to fulfil their nationally determined contributions to the Paris Agreement and modernise their economies, reducing their carbon footprint and moving towards climate neutrality by 2050.
